HOW TO PROTECT A SOLID WOOD COUNTER WITH KUNOS OIL?

Solid wood is an essential material because of its properties, in addition to sporting a timeless allure. Whether a decor is contemporary, rustic or industrial, solid wood will enhance it every time by bringing a natural and warm touch! Thanks to its unique constitution, which makes it both practical and resistant, it has become a material of choice in the manufacture of kitchen counters.

But once your brand new solid wood countertop is installed in your decor, how can you be sure that it will retain its integrity and impact? We explain what to do!

SOLID WOOD, A LONG STORY OF LOVE WITH KITCHEN COUNTERS

As we mentioned, solid wood is always popular when it comes to choosing your kitchen counter! This is largely due to its long lifespan and its great decorative potential, two elements that appeal to both kitchen designers and their customers. Moreover, a piece of furniture is considered as massive when, crossing its elements in their thickness, we only encounter wood. There is therefore no trace of glue or other products! A living, natural and authentic material? Impossible to resist!

PROPERLY PROTECTING YOUR SOLID WOOD WITH KUNOS OIL: FOLLOW THE GUIDE!

In a kitchen, food stains, traces of grease and other residues from steam cooking can cause damage. To make sure you protect your countertop , apply a natural oil that will effectively extend the life of your wood. Unlike more toxic finishing products, which can contaminate your food upon contact with them, natural oils are safe… and, as the name suggests, all natural. In addition, they nourish the wood and allow it to preserve its unique grain!

In order to obtain an optimal result, we recommend the use of KUNOS 243 oil , which is perfectly suited for solid wood worktops. In addition to being colorless and having a low odor, it offers superior protection against humidity and heat. Two elements not to be overlooked in a kitchen!

SOME APPLICATION ADVICE

In some situations, trusting your instincts isn't always the right thing to do! Here, forget your first instinct: using a brush, a roller and a brush is not the preferred method for applying the oil. We recommend that you use the cotton wick instead , which will allow you to minimize product waste and achieve a better finish. You should also sand your wood to grain 150 or 180 before application. This will ensure better penetration of the product during application and prevent the creation of water rings.

In the days following the oil treatment, it is recommended to take all necessary precautions to ensure the durability of your finish. The more “rest time” you give to your counter, the better its resistance over time. Thus, thanks to these few tips , you will ensure a long life to your solid wood countertop, and an impeccable look to your kitchen!
